Mike and Luanne Family Photos| SoCal

So a few weeks ago I went to Disneyland with friends. As always I had a lof of fun running from ride to ride, almost loosing my voice from screaming and resisting the temptation to have a churro in one hand and a huge turkey leg in the other. “The Happiest Place on Earth” can be a little rough on you body if you only have one day to spend there. By the evening time we were so exhausted that it was nice to pause and watch the fireworks. While most people were admiring prett lights and trying to figure out that “firework scene setting” on their cameras, I looked around a saw two very tired bodies…

Rey and Leslie’s Wedding | Valejo, CA

There are a number of reasons of why I like to take pictures at the weddings – I get to know the couple and take part in a very important day of their lives. But one of the best things is getting to know the family and close friends. These are the people that influence and raise us; by getting to know them you get to know the bride and the groom so much better.

I love post production – maybe it comes from working in the movie industry where no pixel is left alone until it submits to the will of the director’s vision. Since I am the director and the editor of my photography I have decided to edit of my favorite picture of Jamie.

As an assigment for my photo group I had to take portrait pictures of another person in it; we all drew names and I got Chris. I was excited and nervous… Excited because Chris is a very calm and patient person that would let me play with my camera and flash settings; but nervous because I haven’t taken many pictures of the men by themsleves (ie without a pretty finacee/girlfriend/bride/wife by their side.) And pictures that I take of my husband on a weekly basis while tinckering with my equipment don’t count – the slightly annoyed look on his face doesn’t appeal to most people. So the day of the assigment came…

Simplicity has always inspired me – the crispness of continuous line, the contrast of black silhouette against bright background, the vibrant gradient of the sunset filled sky – all of that allows the mind to fill in other details. No need to ask unnecessary questions, you just know – these two like each other.
